DescriptionMen from Rimutaka Prison's medium-security section are shown with a mural they designed and painted.
Chris Healey and Jennifer O'Connell, recent graduates of Otago Polytechnic's fine arts diploma course, had answered the prison's advertisement, and $2500 grants from the QEII Arts Council and Paccess Education had paid for their costs and paint for two murals. This was Rimutaka's first mural; there were plans for more. Other prisons had had murals earlier.
The outlines had been drawn on the wall at night, using an overhead projector.
This photograph featured in the October 22, 1991, edition of the Leader.
