October 18 saw nationwide protests staged; in Upper Hutt almost a thousand people lined Fergusson Drive over the 4 km from Main Street to Brentwood Street, for an hour and a half. In addition to the mass-produced 'Abortion kills children' and 'Jesus forgives and heals' signs, there seem to be signs produced by children in church or school projects.
