Kristin Blackwood, Kristin's Flower Shoppe; she had started working from a home studio, and with assistance from the Board and advice from mentor Jenny Isaacs had set up in Princes Street.
Doug Reid, representing Parapine; the company was doing over $5 million of export business, with $1.5 million from the local plant; furniture components to Taiwan, pre-cut packaging timber to Japan.
Andy Jina, Jina Holdings; the company had revitalised Station Street with new buildings and revamped the former McKenzies building.
Rex Kirton, mayor.
Eric Evans, of F V Evans & Son, engineers; also an investor in commercial and industrial property, including the building where The Warehouse had recently opened at the Pine Avenue end of Queen Street.
Basil Gowenlock, Classic Auto Restoration Services, Whakatiki Street; recently started with assistance from the Enterprise centre. His hobby had become a business, and he had recently added a tradesman to his staff.
