Victoria was one of the school's newest pupils.
At an hour-long special assembly, a fax from former pupil and America's Cup skipper Russell Coutts was read out, and in a selection of songs with a nautical themes, pupils wore red socks on their arms.
The celebrations also included an open day, and a dinner at night.
The school had started with 293 pupils on May 23, 1955, at Trentham Army Camp, before moving to the new school; Trentham School had become overcrowded.

Gary McCormick, entertainer;
Sandra Edge, Silver Ferns captain;
Craig Green, former All Black.
