He was a fourth- former, and was competing in the Senior section. Fast ferries had caught his interest, and he had tested seven different types of hull and fed the results into a computer which produced graphs to help analysis. The article mentioned two hull types; 'sloped' was just as effective as 'sloped and pointed'. A second conclusion; it was cheaper to transport goods at lower speeds.
