DescriptionPrinted in colour in the 'Leader' on November 20, 1996.
The picture of the building of the Trentham Racecourse Stewards' Stand had been framed by Thelma's father, Albert (Bert) Cole, who could be identified in the picture. It was taken the year Thelma was born, and her father must have donated it to the racing club. As a child, she was told that her father had dressed in white so that she could identify him.
Thelma was a local writer; Sharee the Trentham Military Camp historian.
The accompanying article deplored the state of old photos; in addition to damage, information on the subjects was generally absent. Deputy mayor Pat Christianson, opening the exhibition, recalled her problems with the Heretaunga Players' collection, and mentioned that Trentham Army Camp, CIT and the public library all employed archivist.
