At this stage the library had not acquired its Revelle Jackson archive, and was hoping to have 2000 pictures enlarged and printed; photographic paper for a 8 x 10 inch print cost $1.50 a sheet, and chemicals had to be paid for. So far, Mr Jackson had resisted the temptation to throw away his boxes of negatives. Special archival sleeves to prevent negative damage were also proposed.
In fact, the negatives are still in ordinary envelopes, one per subject or group of shots.; many are second-hand, from mail received and opened by Mr Jackson; each film consists of 12 images 57 x 57 mm, and has been cut into pairs or single frames, and as many as six or seven films are stored in a single envelope.
