DescriptionThe walk cvered the length of New Zealand, and raised $500 000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, of which she was patron.
She had won squash world championships in 1985 and 1987, and would win two more in 1990 and 1992, when she retired; she also won eight British open championships.
She was awarded an OBE on 1986, CBE in 1993, and made a Dame Companion in the New Zealand Order of Merit in 1998.
In 2013 she was appointed Race Relations Commissioner.
