DescriptionThe competitors were General Motors and Mitsubishi, each with two teams. Trentham B won; Trentham A came last.

They are pictured at the back of General Motors' Railway Avenue site; the Dunlop administration building is central in the background.
The ground beyond the fence had been General Motors's; it was bought by South Pacific Tyres as a site for a possible warehouse. G M and SPT both allowed gorse and scrub to grow, and periodically had it bulldozed into windrows, as seen here; when John Gurrieri took over as SPT chief executive, he had the area flattened and grassed, and the periodically mowed.
