The New World supermarket would be pulled down to make room for the car park, and a council-owned property in Gibbons street would ad to car--parking. In Royal Street, Foodstuffs already owned three house properties, the land occupied by panelbeaters Hollis and Ayling Ltd, and an empty section. They also owned Gibbons Street land used by O'Leary Jones Motors. The business would be closed and demolished.
There was some suggestion of specialized shops in the complex, but information on them and on project costs was not given.
