DescriptionPrinted in the 'Leader' on June 4, 1985.
This proposal was for for a 10-metre-by-13.5-metre community house; a drawing was printed in the 'Leader' on June 4, 1985; plans were being placed on view at the then-existing community house. On one side of the main entrance would be a kitchen and server, and there would be a meeting room on the other side. There would be standard toilets for men and women, and one for the disabled.
A later proposal, printed and illustrated on October 15, envisaged an initial smaller building alongside the hsall; it would have a 55-square-metre main-activities room, plus two meeting rooms and a kitchen, and estimated cost was $45 000. Stage 2 would be a toilet and shower block, and stage 3 a simplified (?)hall/gymnasium. Council approval was being sought, and $1000 had been raised.
The designer was Pat Connole.
The first community house was a modified three-bedroom one at 18 Blueberry Grove, and had two large lounges, two offices, a kitchen and a bathroom, and the August 21, 1979 'Leader' announced a meeting to elect a management committee.
