DescriptionPrinted in the 'Leader' on August 16, 1983.
The Local Government Commission had recommended that the two amalgamate; 2640 Heretaunga-Pinehaven electors would be voting in the next couple of weeks. The map does not show the whole district; just the parts which were closely connected to Upper Hutt by shared roads and services. The Fergusson Drive boundary ran through the middle of the road.
The Heretaunga-Pinehaven council chairman, Roger Anderson, was not happy that the district would be run by a ward committee, with two representatives on Upper Hutt City Council.
The September 6 'Leader' reported that this proposal had been defeated.
The original image, scanned from a bound volume, included broad black boundaries, which curved near the spine; this later version was scanned from a loose copy. It turns out that the original was slightly taperd, lefft to right, and off-square ar right, the borders have been removed.
