DescriptionPrinted in the 'Leader' on July 28, 1981; the picture of the site was bare, apart from two tranformers.
An isometric drawing is easily constructed; all horizontal features are drawn at 30-degree angles, and there is no perspective. This view is from the north-east. The far end is some distance from Blenheim Street; the Goodshed Road entrance is a long drive in the "4 o'clock" direction.
The building would cost $1.6 million, and was meant to replace a Shakespeare Avenue depot, and would also house engineering staff who had operated in Main Street, making more space for administrative staff and the showroom.
It would provide a workshop and work-area facilities for linesmen, cable layers and jointers, gas fitters and marketing staff, garage facilities, inspectors' offices, a large store, a cafeteria and a lecture room.
The original owners have long gone; Googling 18 Goodshed Road came up with the following names; not all off them survive at this address in the current telephone directory.
