The original proposal for a shopping centre envisaged 40 000 square feet of shops, with a tavern, a service station and a community area; some six acres (2-1/2 hectares) might be needed. The current plan envisaged 12 000 square feet; the city planners felt there should be provision for expansion, for a service station and post office; and although a residents' poll had rejected a tavern tis might change; but the total area might be no more than 1-1/4 hectares; two hectares currently zoned Commercial A2 could be rezoned Residential B.
