DescriptionThis alternative was printed in the July 21, 1971 'Leader' on page 1, which gave the first reports on a hearing committee and submissions on the town plan; there had been 278 objections.
This plan was presented by Colin Gibbs, managing director of Hazelwoods, a large local department store.
The plan printed on February 10 showed a ring road around the central business district, bounded by Fergusson Drive, Pine Avenue, Henry Street and a combination of Sinclair Street and Savage Crescent.
This layout assumes the same ring road, but does provide a vehicular exit from Main Street to Pine Avenue, but turns most of Main Street into a pedestrian mall.
