DescriptionPrinted in the February 5 1969 'leader'; the City Council had unanimously approved the design.
The drawing is by the architect, M C (Max) Edridge, B Arch, ANZIA, ARIBA.
The building contract was let to Ranfurly Construction (Bernard Comeskey and Terry Whiteman) in August 1969; 25 weeks to ccompletion were anticipated.
It was topped off in February 1970, and was to open on June 13, but it was only on September 13 1972 that the 'Leader' reported that the club had opened in August.
The club added a second court at the far end in 1973 or 1974.
