DescriptionOne of two pictures printed in a June 1, 1966 'Leader' advertisement just after Upper Hutt had been declared a city. The canteen, at right, had housed a public City Council meeting where models and plans of the proposed civic centre had been displayed and approved on May 5.
The warehouse and offices and a Frigidaire appliances showroom had opened in 1954 and expanded in 1960; it was bought by South Pacific Tyres N Z Limted in 1994.
