Wright Stephensons opened this building in November 1965; they sold British General Motors Vauxhall cars and Bedford trucks and vans.
The name changed to Wrightcars; then Twin Lakes Motor Co moved in, selling Holdens.
Harry Tinsley's mower business had been at 25 Seddon Street for 17 years; in mid-1970 he was joined by his sons as Harry Tinsley & Sons Limited, and then moved to 50 Montgomery Crescent in October. Harry Tinsley and his son Ray moved to the West Coast at the end of 1979, leaving the business to son Murray. After Twin Lakes closed, in 2012 Tinsley's Mower Centre moved in from Montgomery Crescent, and at some stage the business was branded as Stihl Shop Tinsleys; they had a Lower Hutt branch.
