DescriptionPrinted in the August 19, 1980 'Leader'.
The Upper Hutt Cycling Club had been given council permission.
The track had to be built by the club, and had to satisfy the director of parks and rserves; motorcycles and trail bikes were banned, and the area had to be kept fee of litter.
Poets Park has gone, buried by the River Road.
Possibly, the venue was changed to McLeod Park, when it was realised ther river road would intfere; or the McLeod Street park was built to replace a Poets Park track when the River Road was built.
