DescriptionPrinted in the September 17, 1985 'Leader'.
The original plan had been to bypass Fergusson Drive with a motorway on the northern bank of the river, and passing the north side of Totara Park. The River Road gave multiple accesses to Upper Hutt.
Land close to the hills at Totara Park had been cleared for housing, and this part of the proposed motorway would be unlikely to proceed.
North on the map is at around "3 o'clock".
