    Kay Elsom "My friend and neighbour Jackie was competing in this competition although not in this photo. Remember her practising her baking at home and being one of her food testers. She had her product product perfected but don’t remember her winning anything."

    Kay Elsom "These girls weren’t from my brownie pack. But I reckon the girl with the glasses is Katherine Hayes."

    Kay Elsom "Katherine was my age/year but went to Heretaunga. Knew her through Ranger Guides. The other girls I don’t recognise and I would say most were younger judging by their heights at the time."
