DescriptionPrinted in a 'Leader' "Upper Hutt Magic Million City" 20-page special publication, distributed in the greater Wellingon area ahead of a January 16-28 Upper Hutt retaiers' sale, the Wellington Cup Festival (January 12, 23, 28), and the Magic Millions yearling sales on January 20 and 22.
Don was described as 'outgoing' ; the print was marked 'until 1989 WRC marketing manager', and in fact he had moved on.
Magic Millions originated on Australia's Gold Coast, and had been brought to Trentham after the National Yearling Sales had left Trentham.
Up to 500 yearlings would be sold , and only these horses would be eligble for two $1 million races; 1200 metres at Trentham in 1990, 1500 metres in Australia in June 1990,(with a bonus $1 million should a horse win both races) and a $1.5-million 2200 metres race in Australia in 1991.
