DescriptionPrinted in the August 10, 1992 'leader'.
The land had been set aside for a proposed motorway, which had been abandoned; the land had been up for sale as a single block. 80 Parkdale residents had signed a petition wanting the beech forest preserved. Forest and Bird had acted on behalf of the petitioners, and the Department of Conservation was investigating the land's conservation value.
The sale of the western half of the block to Upper Hutt City Council was announced in the May 24, 1993 'Leader', which printed a plan of the reduced block; te eastern boundary the other half became Sapphire Grove.
