"I used to live in pinehaven and we used to swim in that swimming pool it was great. All of the community would gather there and they would have carnivals With Flags. The scout hall next door where lots of events like pinehaven Garden Circle and also scouts and playgroup .. Photo is in a book that was published by the pinehaven City Council. Picture is early settlers to pinehaven my grandmother being the second from the right Rhoda Lawson she lived in pinehaven Road photo was taken about the time they would have the cherry blossom festival it was a great place to live and go to school I remember Lindsay Forbes and a few others great memories of a great place. We left 35 years ago but still go back every now and again from Auckland. There is a book in Upper Hutt library which has early scenes of the roads and also early settlers with the pine trees and Chichester great editorial excellent reading ."

"it is next to the Pinehaven Community hall and at a guess was a hole in the ground with the creek running through. In the 1950’s a concrete pool was made by the locals, and the creek still ran through it. To fill the pool the creek outlet was blocked and the pool filled. When it looked dirty the plug was removed pool emptied and the process started over again. When the pool was full, the creek water went through an overflow"
