Jean (Sister Bertrand) of Auckland, left, and Irene Wilmshurst of Pukenui near Hamilton pose with a model of John Golder when they visited the Upper Hutt pioneer's home recently.

Sister Bertrand made the model of John and one of his wife Jane (nee Martin) to add another dimension to the Golder Cottage Museum at 707 Fergusson Drive. For her it was a labour of love.

The women came to Wellington for the investiture by the Governor-General (Sir Michael Hardie Boys) of Mrs Wilmshurst.

She received the QSM for her voluntary service to the community over many years in various fields, including Red Cross, League of Mothers, Play Centre and helping the elderly.

They are daughters of John and Jane's 6th son Bertrand and by co-incidence it was the 110th anniversary of his birth the day they called into the cottage with a group of family members
and were shown around by their local niece and cousin Janice Browne (nee Golder).
Data supplied with a family photo names the sixth child and fifth son as Bertram, unless another son had died.
