DescriptionPostcard photograph depicting bell tents with a two story wooden building to the right and a two-storey house (possibly the building now known as Bell House) in the background.

Rear of postcard can be viewed by clicking icon at bottom left. Date stamp indicates that the message written here was posted December 7th, 1914. It reads:

[Address:] Mr Joe Rogers, Wingatui, Otago, S.I. [South Island]
Dear Joe
This is a photo of the camp where we are at Upper Hutt: it is not a very big camp as there are only about two hundred and fifty men here. The big shed on the right is where the cookshop and YMCA reading room is.
