DescriptionPostcard photograph of Trentham Camp in 1915, showing 'Indian Service' bell tents and wooden buildings along with part of the race course. Caption inscribed on picture reads: "NZ Expeditionary Forces Camp, Trentham Military Park 1915. S. S. Cameron [photographer] Photo No 888."
The Ministry of Works started building huts in March 1915, and had completed four rows by November; this picture must come from somewhere between those dates.
A view of the rear of this postcard can be seen by clicking on "Image 2" above or the thumbnail at the bottom of the screen. The message written here reads:
"Dear Ella
This photograph was taken some months ago and it is supposed to be the best yet taken. I will tell you all about the camp when I get my furlough. I do not fear anything in the cerebral spinal meningitis line. The sanitary conditions are I shouldn't think the strictest on earth. Good Bye, Mac[?]"Date Taken1915
