DescriptionA greyscale image was printed in the June 7 1983 'Leader'.

The lakes were later named after the Wellington Regional Council’s long-serving chairman, Stuart Macaskill; "Stuart" was dropped from the lakes' name in 2015, as two names contravened Geographic Board rules.

200 such 10-metre pipes would be used; they were described as spiral-welded steel, lined with concrete and covered with coal-tar enamel reinforced with nylon mesh; they were intended to have 'unlimited life'.

The spiral-welding process meant that any strip narrower than a pipe's circumference could be used to make pipe; there was no need for individual set-ups for each diameter of pipe; 30-cm stock could make any size above around 15 cm.
