Mr Northcote-Bade died on May 23, 1997, in Auckland, where had lived since 1991; he was 91. The June 4 'Leader' printed an obituary.
After studying at Victoria University he had trained as a pharmacist, eventually retiring as pharmacist in charge, pricing division, Department of Health, in 1971.
In 1947 he was one of the Nicolaus group which swept to power in the borough council in 1947, and served for three years.
He worked on the foundation of the Historic Places Trust, convened the first meeting, and later chaired the Wellington regional committee.
He was a foundation member of the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand, an artist member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts for 50 years, and honorary curator of cultural history at the Dominion Museum , 1947-1962.

He was pictured in the June 22, 1981 'Leader' after passing an annual over-70s driving test in his 1915 Dodge. 80 drivers had been tested over four weeks.

His wife, Jeanie, died in Auckland in July 1992, and was one of New Zealand's leading teachers of speech ad drama; for many years she had been the only New Zealander to hold the Fellowship of trinity College, London. Obituary, July 13 'Leader'.Date TakenMay 1989Geotagnot specified
