DescriptionA greyscale image was printed in the 'Leader' on September 26, 1989.
The 'Leader' of November 14 reported that he would continue as deputy mayor.

The November 7, 1994 'Leader' reported that he had been involved in a collision at Tauherenikau, taken to Masterton Hospital, and flown to Wellington Hospital, where he died, near midnight; he was 65.
A building contractor, he had been a city councillor since 1973 and deputy mayor 1980-1992. He had been chairman of the Hutt valley Drainage Board and president of the New Zealand Traffic Institute. He had been heavily involved in Rimutaka Baptist Church, which he had helped build, and the Rotary Club of Upper Hutt.
The November 14 'Leader' covered his funeral, and printed further tributes.
In February 1995 he was succeeded in Council by Bill Nicholls, who had been the highest-polling unsuccessful candidate.
