The couple were the first co-vicars in the Wellington diocese. They had previously shared duties in South Canterbury, at Timaru and Pleasant Point. Andrew had a forestry degree and had worked in forestry management and consultancy; Christine's degree was in Education, and she had worked as a music teacher. They had met at theological college, where she was in her third year, and he was in his first. After he was ordained, they moved to the Christchurch diocese. They has two sons, 6 and 3-1/2.
Peter Stuart, the vicar for the past 12 years, had moved to St Luke's, in Wadestown.
