CIT was about to open the facility, formed by amalgamating the education centre and the human behavioural sciences, in a new location on The Terrace.
Mrs Roberts had joined CIT as a lecturer in 1986, and had professional experience in designing and leading educational training for groups such as the Army Education Corps, the Salvation Army, the Fire Service, and polytechnics, and had conducted professional consultancy for NZ Rail, the Police College, and Lakeland Health (Taupo and Rotorua).
