Visible are: three buildings on Station Street, a power pole with three bicycles parked near it, part of the two-storeyed 1909 Post Office building, a public telephone box, and pedestrian crossing markings on two posts.

The Post Office was officially opened by the Prime Minister and Postmaster-General, Sir Joseph Ward, on 2 April 1909. It was demolished and a new Post Office was built on the site which was extended to Geange Street; the foundation stone of the later building was dated 13 May 1969.

The September 4, 2002 'Leader' printed a two-page spread on the history of local post offices.

This image is identified as R12 in Vin Benge's oral history interview about the Leo Morel photos of Main Street.
