A great bit of History, and we used to live in the house in Station Street where the bloke is standing outside on the footpath, and the Provincial hotel down the road in the distance.
I remember as kids we used to find lots of coins by the fence, as people used to drop them when going to catch the train.
I also remember the milk being delivered by horse and cart, plus the bloke coming to empty the Long Drop, and the Coalman carrying sacks of it on his back.
I can remember the Police Station, which I'm sure was just one cell.
Most of us that lived in Station St, then moved to Railway Ave, where we had a great Railway Community growing up.
Upper Hutt was great back then ( Still is, but not quite the same ), where all activities were outside, and with a variety of it.
There is many well known families in Upper Hutt who were bought up through the Railways, with memories we never forget.
